TWO RAILWAY UNITS INSPECTED

GRATITUDE EXPRESSED BY MINISTER (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 21. Recently the Minister of Railways (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan), accompanied by the General Manager of Railways (Mr E. Casey), visited the 16th and 17th Railway Operating Companies in camp near Ngaruawahia. Subsequently a ceremonial parade was held under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel A. H. Sage. Addressing the men Mr Sullivan said the Government and people of this country were grateful to them for making great sacrifices to serve their country. “I want to thank you for the sacrifice you arc all making and I can assure you that I am expressing the sentiments of my colleagues and the people of the Dominion,” the Minister concluded. Mr Casey also briefly addressed the men and assured them that in no case would any man’s departmental prospects suffer by reason of his absence on military duties.
