SAILING OF SHIP DELAYED
SUFFICIENT MEN NOT AVAILABLE (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 21. Sufficient men were again not available to man the Richardson Line motor-ship Kopara, whose sailing for the East Coast was delayed on Tuesday after one able seaman had been dismissed and another had left the ship. Auckland seamen have not offered themselves for the positions, feeling that the dismissed man should be reinThe matter had been referred to the Minister of Labour (the Hon. P. C. Webb), said Mr P. Wallis, manager of Watkin and Wallis Limited, agents for the ship, and it was hoped the ship would be able to sail at 9 o’clock tomorrow morning. One man had offered himself, but as two men were required and the company was not prepared to pay him wages while he waited idle until another man was engaged, he was not engaged.
