OBITUARY

MR ANDREW RENNIE The death has occurred in Dunedin of Mr Andrew Rennie, aged 73. Mr Rennie, who was a native of Stirlingshire, Scotland, arrived in New Zealand in 1889. He spent three months in Dunedin before settling in the Roxburgh district, where, in 1893, he engaged in the dredging industry. After having acted in the capacity of fireman and winchman for a few years, he became dredgemaster and had charge of the Roxburgh, Ettrick and Endeavour dredges. For a short period he was also master of the Gleniti dredge in the Waikaka district. When the dredging claims began to dwindle, Mr Rennie removed to Dunedin 28 years ago, joining the firm of J. and W. Faulkner, as machinist. He remained with the firm for 20 years, retiring eight years ago. He is survived by his wife and one daughter.
