UNEMPLOYED DUTCH SENT TO GERMANY
FOOD BECOMES SCARCE IN GERMANY THE HAGUE June 14. The German Commissioner for Holland, Dr Artur von Seyss-Inquart, announced that unemployed Dutchmen will be sent to Germany. Holland has 300,000 workless men, some of whom are being employed in the reconstruction of the Netherlands. The Germans claim that demolitions caused £4,000,000 damage. Food is increasingly scarce.
INDIAN GIFT FOR ARMY (British Official Wireless) (Received June 16, 7.30 p.m.) RUGBY June 15. A message from the Viceroy of India (the Marquess of Linlithgow) to the President of France (M. Albert Lebrun) says: “With profound admiration for the glorious achievements of the armies of France the Viceroy has the honour to give from his War Purposes Fund, raised by public subscription from the princes and people of India, the sum of 500,000 rupees for the benefit of the French Army in whatever manner your Excellency may think fit.”
