MUSICIANS MEET
PAYMENT OF AWARD RATES
A satisfactory credit balance was shown in the accounts of the Southland branch of the New Zealand Musicians’ Union, which were presented at the branch’s annual meeting. The president, Mr G. Humphrey, was chairman.
The secretary was instructed to ascertain the charges foi- playing at patriotic gatherings. It was pointed out that musicians committed a breach of the award in charging less than award rates for their services. The union, however, was always ready to give a donation to any patriotic committee for which union members had been engaged to play. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr G. Humphrey; vice-presi-dent, Mr H. Halbert; secretary and treasurer, Mrs D. W. Stalker; committee, Miss M. Kelly and Messrs G. Donald, T. Haslemorg, C. Slade, M. Ronald; auditor, Mr E. Dell; trustees, Messrs Humphrey and Halbert; delegate to Southland Trades Council, Mr G. Humphrey; delegate to Southland Labour Representation Committee, Mr Stalker.
