Milder Temperatures (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, April 29. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Light to moderate and rather variable winds, with westerlies later predominating. Weather fair to fine, with milder temperatures. Sea moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Further showers in the north-east-ern portion of the North Island, otherwise fair to fine. Widespread sharp frosts tonight in the South Island and inland in the North Island, but temperatures somewhat milder tomorrow. General Situation.—The recent vigorous depression has now passed away to the east and the Dominion has come under the influence of an extensive anti-cyclone centred over the Tasman Sea. Winds.—From the southerly quarter. Strong in exposed positions on the east coast, but decreasing and otherwise light to moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters).—Rather rough north of Kawhia and south of East Cape, with a southerly swell in the latter area. Slight to moderate elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea.— Moderate southerly winds. Moderate seas. Fine, drizzling rain fell at intervals in Invercargill yesterday. There was no wind but the temperature was cold. This morning at 1 o’clock a light drizzling rain was falling, the weather being cool and calm.
