OYSTER FLEET STILL IDLE
NEGOTIATIONS YESTERDAY WITHOUT RESULT
No progress was made at a conference between oystermen and the merchants which was held yesterday at Bluff as a result of a demand by the men for an increase in the rate of payment.
The conference, which was presided over by the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr S. Ritchie, will be continued today. The oyster fleet, which has not been out since Friday, was still idle yesterday, and is not expected to proceed to the beds today.
