SOLDIERS BIDDEN FAREWELL On a recent evening Messrs L. Carroll and L. McKenzie, who have since left to join the afforestation unit of the Defence Department, were entertained at a farewell social in the Returned Soldiers’ Association Club by the Territorial Association A big crowd was present. The president, Mr E. D. Bone, made a presentation of a money belt, socks and scarves to the guests of honour and wished them the best of luck and a safe return. Other speakers were Mr C. McKeown (business people), Mr E. J. Weir (residents) and Mr R. Lee (sporting bodies). Items were given by a troupe of nigger minstrels, Miss L. Weir (recitation), Mrs C. H. T. Simpson (songs) and Mr R. Dunnage (acrobatic display). Music for the dancing was supplied by Miss J. Keady, Messrs L. Carroll, D. and M. Bennett. Mi- R. Lee was master of ceremonies.
