WARDEN’S COURT (Before Mr H. J. Dixon, S.M.) The application by F. L. Weddell and A. Drysdale for the surrender of water race licence No. 3538 in Block WIH Mid-Wakatipu S.D. was recommended for consent of the Minister of Mines. The application by Gordon McLaren for a mineral licence comprising five acres in the Glenorchy survey district north of Bucklebum creek was granted, the Minister’s consent having been obtained. Application by Alex Munro for an ordinary prospecting licence comprising 12 acres in.-Block XIX Shotover survey district on the north-east bank of the Shotover river about a-quar-ter of a mile above the Arthur’s Point bridge was granted and an order was made under Section 4 of the Mining Amendment Act, 1935. MAGISTRATE’S COURT Johanna Thornton, as administratrix of the estate of Olgar Archibald John Thornton, deceased, claimed from Walter and Muriel McLaren £lll/15/7, being an amount payable for goods supplied. Mr.C. H. McKay appeared for the plaintiff and Mr J. E. Sunderland for, the defendants. After evidence had been taken for the plaintiff and submissions put forward by both parties, it was intimated that a settlement had been arrived at. Judgment was given in default in the following cases: The Commissioner of Taxes v. Eric Albert Scheib, £l9/5/-; costs £l/3/-; Davidson Bros, v. George Philp £lO/12/- (costs £2/16/-); Thomas Stanley Lonsdale v. John William Hogan, £3 (costs £2/12/-). . Thomas Stanley Lonsdale v. G. H. Needham; the charge was withdrawn.
