BOXING

DAVIS KNOCKED OUT BY CALTAUX EARLY FINISH TO GOOD BOUT (United Press Association) GISBORNE, December 4. Vic Caltaux knocked out Jack Davis in the fourth round of a scheduled 10round bout after a good display in which Davis carried the fight to his opponent. For most of the first three rounds Caltaux took the full weight of his opponent’s punches a few _ times and showed no effect, then in the fourth he came out fighting and rocked Davis with a left to the body and a right to the head. He followed _up and scored a knock-out with a right hook. Davis recovered after five minutes.
