C Grade Tournament MATCHES PLAYED LAST . EVENING Good progress was made last evening with the C grade tennis tournament conducted by the Southland Lawn Tennis Association. . Play was confined to the singles events, with the exception of two matches played in the men’s doubles. The women’s matches were played at Invercargill courts, and the men s at Waihopai. More matches will be played this evening, beginning at 5 o’clock with men’s singles and doubles at Waihopai, and women’s singles and doubles at Invercargill courts. Rodger 7-2. PRIMARY SCHOOLS’ TOURNAMENT I — SUCCESSES OF WAIHOPAI PUPILS All the finals of the tennis tournament conducted by the School Sports Association were played on Saturday. Pupils of the Waihopai school distinguished themselves by winning three of the four singles events and both the doubles, in which the runners-up were also pupils at Waihopai. The senior girls’ final was contested by two Otautau pupils. The earlier rounds of the singles competitions had been decided previously, but all the doubles matches were played on Saturday.
