BIG DECREASE AT DUNEDIN NEARLY £20,000 LESS CUSTOMS REVENUE (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, November 30. A drop of nearly £20,000 in Customs duty for November as compared with Hie same month last year is revealed in the figures for the* port of Otago. The total last month was £47,719, the figures, for November 1938 being £67,134, this: showing a decrease of £19,415. There is also a decrease in the figures for 11 months of the year, the total for 1939 being £680,511 compared with £712,133 for the same period of last year. BIG COLLECTION OF WAR TAX SUBSTANTIAL DECREASE AT WELLINGTON (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 30. The net Customs revenue collected at the Port of Wellington in November shows a substantial decrease compared with November 1938, but is considerably higher than the total for October, which was the lowest since April 1935. The returns from sales tax continue at a fairly high level, but the revenue under all heads is lower than in I'fovember last year. A new item, war tax, which appeared for the first time in the October returns amounted in November to £32,353, compared with £19,616 in October. The figures for November with those for November 1938 are as follows: —

DECREASE ON LAST NOVEMBER AGGREGATE COLLECTION IN AUCKLAND (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 30. Customs duty in November aggregated £277,566, more than £44,000 more than in October, but £53,336 less than in November last year and the smallest November collection since 1935. This was in spite of the additional 4d a gallon tax on petrol which is added to this item and not included in the motor spirit tax return. Motor spirit tax in November yielded £74,031 which was £2731 less than in November 1938. Excise on beer gave £26,171 or £2107 more than in the corresponding month last year. Sales tax, however, declined by £4743 at £92,640. For the 11 months the aggregate from Customs, motor spirit and tyre duty was £4,030,663 compared with £4,059,660 for the corresponding period last year.
