ALL CONSTRUCTION RECORDS BROKEN

MILITARY TRAINING CENTRES (United Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, October 12. The Minister' of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) visited the New Plymouth airport today during a tour of inspection of military training centres being constructed by the department. “We are ahead of schedule everywhere,” said the Minister when commenting on the department’s efforts. All records for construction had been broken and anything ever done overseas was equalled- as a result of the mechanization and organization of the department, which had to undertake 750 jobs and cover 3,000,000 square feet with timber. Mr Semple praised the foresight of the New Plymouth Borough Council in acquiring land and forming an aerodrome. Had New Zealand not haa aerodromes prepared insuperable difficulties would have been faced w'hen the call for trained aviators was made.
