Nigger Minstrel

Among the stallions at the services of breeders in Southland is Nigger Minstrel, the brother to Desert Gold and Egypt. Nigger Minstrel won the W. R. C. Fitzherbert Handicap, Great Northern Champagne Stakes, Rosehill Guineas, New Zealand Eclipse Stakes, and was second to Heroic in the A.J.C. Derby. He has already established himself as a successful sire by getting Jolly Beggar, Florence Mills, Quadroon, Red Witch, Lazybones, Donegal, The Crooner, Peter Jackson, Dark Flight, Gold Flight, Nigger Boy, and several others that add distinction to the reputation of their sire. Nigger Minstrel comes from the Aura taproot, which produced Aurum, one of the greatest colts ever raced in Australia, Auraria (Melbourne Cup), The Admiral (Melbourne Cup), Golden Slipper, Sainfoin (Caulfield Cup), Port Admiral (Adelaide Cup), Lord Wilton (Adelaide Cup), and other notable winners. All Black, the sire of Nigger Minstrel, also got Balmerino (Caulfield Guineas) and other good winners in Australia.

Will Be Fancied If Fundy Bay has improved in his jumping since racing at Geraldine last month, when he was only just beaten by Travenna over a mile and five furlongs, he will be stoutly fancied in the mile arid a-half hurdle race at Washdyke on Saturday.
