COMMON FUND SUGGESTED

MONEY FOR MEN ON ACTIVE SERVICE ACTION OF LOCAL BODIES CRITICIZED (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 10. ■ The. action of local bodies in agreeing to pay the difference between military and civilian pay for staff members on active service was the subject of a strong protest in a resolution passed at a meeting of the Auckland Master Builders’ Association. Although the additional pay was not begrudged, it was felt that it .-was a grave injustice to many thousands of recruits who were employees • of private firms and without the backing of' the public purse. It was suggested that the difference in pay already promised should be paid into a common fund and distributed to each on a fair basis.
