MAGISTRATE’S COURT (Before Messrs F. Moore and T. W. Brandford, J.P.s.) Judgement by default was given in the following civil claim:—McCurdy and Sons v. J. E. Hansen (Kapuka South) for £l5/14/4, costs £2/1/-, solicitor’s fee £l/11/-. CRIB ’ There was an attendance of 36 players at the weekly crib tournament held by the Winton Returned Soldiers’ Association. The women’s prize was won by Mrs J. Blackmun (Lady Barkly) and the men’s prize by Mr P. Kerr (Devereux Road). RAINFALL Rain fell on 26 days during the month of July, with a maximum fall of 1.22 in on the 26th and a total fall of 7.02 in for the month, according to observations taken at the Winton Experimental and Demonstration Farm. MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING The best shot off the rifle trophy and the handicap trophy were won by O. Smith with a score of 79, secured with inner bulls, at the weekly shoot of the Winton Returned Soldiers’ Association’s Miniature Rifle Club. The Barrett button was won by G. Kettle. Scores were:—O.
