QUEENSTOWN

RIFLE SHOOTING The final shoot of the season was held recently. The day was cold and stormy, with rain at intervals. Considering the weather the scores were fairly good. Results are as follows: —

E. J. Lowen was the winner of the Simson button. WOMEN’S DIVISION The Queenstown branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union met in the Plunket Rooms, Miss M. Hamilton presiding in the absence of the president, Mrs J. B. Hamilton. Mrs F. Rankin gave an interesting address on the need for the co-opera-tion of women in the defence of New Zealand.

The roll-call, “An old photograph, ’ brought forth some amusing and interesting photographs. A competition for the identification of these wab won by Mrs D. Sutherland. Other competition winners were: Best jar of jelly, Mrs P. Stanton 1, Mrs H Tomkies 2; posy of flowers, Miss Hamilton 1, Mrs T. Wilson 2. Mrs I. Hunter gave a practical demonstration on home nursing and the care of the patient in bed, followed by some reminiscences of early nursing days in Dunedin. PERSONAL Mr and Mrs G. Morris are on holiday in Dunedin. Mrs J. Thompson and Miss Molly

Thompson are at present spending a holiday in Australia. Miss B. Farrant has returned after spending a holiday in Dunedin RUGBY FOOTBALL The Country Rugby team is in the lead for the cup at present with five points, Arrowtown is next with three points and Queenstown third with two points. Glenorchy 3 not fielding a team this season.
