A SHIELD TEAM

To The Editor Sir,—The Ranfurly Shield team as suggested by your correspondent “ExRep” on first reading appears to merit consideration. A closer study of the selection, admittedly made by “Ex-Rep on Country Day form, reveals a lack of observation and reasoning not usually associated with one of his experience. To further the point, on Country Day form I would exclude A. W. Wesney, A. Sutherland and S. Purdue and include E. Mclntyre (Western), R. Gibb (Central) and D. Forde (Western) in their respective positions. „ It is quite possible that Ex Rep s selection is a good one, but if a team is to be chosen on a particular day’s performance surely first consideration should be given to those players actually taking the field.—Yours, etc., SPECTATOR.
