OBITUARY
MRS MARGARET FOWLER The death has occurred at her residence, Broughton street, Gore, of Mrs Margaret Fowler, a well-known and respected former resident of the Wendon district. She was born in Scotland 76 years ago and came to New Zealand when she was 21 years old. She lived in various parts of Eastern Southland but for the greater part of her life she resided at Wendon. A few years after coming to New Zealand she married Mr David Fowler. They lived in Hawke’s Bay for four years and then removed to Waikaka Valley A few years later they moved to Wendon, taking over a farm of 250 acres. About five and ahalf years ago Mrs Fowler retired to Gore, leaving members of the family to carry on the farm at Wendon. During her long residence in the district she made many friends. Her chief interest was in her family and she was also an ardent supporter of the Presbyterian Church. Mr Fowler died in 1914. Mrs Fowler is survived by three sons, Messrs Walter James and Alexander Fowler (Wendon) and two daughters, Misses Margaret and Mary Fowler (Gore).
