WEDDINGS

RILLSTONE—GORIN SKI The wedding took place on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Basilica of Agnes' Mary, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Gorinski, of Bowmont street, Invercargill, to James Bowden, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. H. B. Rillstone, of Dunedin and late of Invercargill. The Rev. Father Murphy performed the ’ ceremony, and Miss Rose Shepherd played the organ. The church was decorated by friends of the bride. The bride wore a gown of ivory satin cut on classical lines, with a shirred bodice and a posy of orange blossom at the neckline. The sleeves were tight fitting and formed a peak over the hands. The skirt was cut on classical lines and formed a train. The embroidered tulles veil was worn over the face and was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a sheaf of lilies. The bridesmaid was Miss Dorothy Gorinski, sister of the bride, who wore a gown of sea-mist taffeta made on fitting lines. The bodice was finished at the back with tiny loops and buttons and had puffed sleeves. She wore a flame top-knot and-. carried a sheaf of gladioli of the same shade. The best man was Mr Patrick Meehan.

The reception was held at the Tudor Lounge, where Mrs Gorinski received the guests. She wore a black pinstriped tailored costume, with a fur and black hat and accessories. A shoulder spray of begonias completed her toilette.

The bridegroom’s sister wore a hat and coat in petrel blue. For travelling the bride wore a navy pin-striped tailored costume, with an ivory satin blouse, a. fur and navy accessories.

Mr and Mrs Rillstone will in future live in Gore.

Before her marriage the bride was entertained by Mrs T. Thomson at a pantry evening, by Mrs E. Currie at a kitchen evening, and by the Misses M. Butler and E. McChesney at a gift afternoon. A presentation was made to her from the staff of Messrs Thomson and Beattie Ltd., while the fffm made her a present of a cheque. MOORE—LEITH A wedding of interest to Southland and Wairarapa friends was solemnized at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Ashburton, by the Rev. R. S. Watson, when Olive Jessie, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs M. J. Leith, was married to Ernest Edward Thomas, only son of Mr and Mrs A. E. Moore, Chapel street, Masterton.

The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a frock of heavy parchment lace over astin. The heart-shaped neckline was caught with tiny bows, matching those finishing the goffered pleating on the sleeves and skirt, which formed a long circular train. Her embroidered tulle veil was held, in place with a coronet of orange blossom and pleated net. She carried a bouquet of cream carnations, freesias, chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid was Miss Gladys McClean, of Invercargill, who wore a sheer frock of turquoise with a pleated bodice, puffed sleeves, and full skirt, finished at the waist with velvet ribbon, Her Juliet cap was made of forget-me-nots, and her bouquet was of gladioli, dahlia carnations and maidenhair fern in cyclamen shades. The flower girls, Muriel Leith and Ethel Shaw, sister and cousin of the bride, wore Victorian frocks also of turquoise sheer finished with velvet ribbon bows. Their blue sandals, coronets of forget-me-nots and posies of cyclamen flowers repeated the bridesmaid’s colour scheme.

Mr R. Warren, Wellington, was best man and Mr G. Leith was usher.

The reception was held at Luvitts, the guests being received by Mrs Leith, who wore a navy pin-striped costume and navy felt hat with accessories to match. She was assisted by Mrs Moore, who wore a navy costume and navy hat and accessories. Their shoulder sprays were of gold abutilons. For travelling the bride wore a tantailored coat over a light gold matalaine frock; her tan hat, fur and accessories were to match. Mr and Mrs E. E. T. Moore’s future home will be in Wellington. Before her marriage the bride was entertained at a kitchen tea by Mrs G. Whyte, and tea towel afternoon and handkerchief evening by Mrs J. Shaw. Wyndham visitors to the wedding were: Mr and Mrs J. D. Hopkins, Mr and Mrs D. Shaw, Mr D. Hopkins, Mrs C. Irwin, Misses S. Strang, E. Irwin, G. Hopkins, Ngaire Hopkins, Ethel Shaw and Master Jack Hopkins. KOLLER-HOWE A wedding of interest in the district was quietly solemnized at the home of the bride’s mother, South Wyndham, when Agnes McAlpine, daughter of Mrs Andrew Howe and the late Mr Howe, was married to Gilbert Edwa.d Koller, of Timaru. The Rev. G. D. Falconer was the officia.lng minister. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr John Howe, wore a green tailored suit with an orange and brown shaped scarf, green felt hat and accessories to match. Miss Bessie Howe attended her sister as bridesmaid, her frock being of rust wool georgette with felt hat to match. They both carried sheaves of gladiolas and abutilons. Mr J. Townsend, Oamaru, was best man.

The reception was held in a marquee on the lawn.

Later Mr and Mrs Koller left by car on their honeymoon. Their future home v/ill be in Dunedin.
