(Received October 28, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, October 27. The Oxford by-election resulted:— Mr Quinton Hogg (Con.) 15,797 Mr A. D. Lindsay (Ind.) 12,363 The by-election had aroused considerable interest, as the international policy of the Government had been the principal question. The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir John Simon), who, as a Fellow of All Souls, has a vote in Oxford City, was one of the first to go to the poll early this morning.

At the General Election in 1935 the polling at Oxford resulted: Captain R. C. Bourne (Con.) 16,306 P. Gordon-Walker (Lab.) 9,661
