DRASTIC PRICE-FIXING MEASURES
PUBLIC UTILITIES IN BRITISH COLUMBIA (Received October 27, 7.5 p.m.) VICTORIA, October 26. The Speech from the Throne at the opening of the British Columbia Legislature forecast drastic price-fixing for commodities by the Government Public Utilities Board. Maximum petrol prices are already fixed, and rates for electricity for buses and tram-cars will be controlled. Record revenues were reported by the Minister of Finance, Mr John Hart, but the Budget is not balanced because of continued unemployment.
