BLOMFIELD MATCHED WITH MOEN Because “Lofty” Blomfield knows how to give wrestling patrons the kind of displays that they most enjoy he has become the biggest box-office attraction in the sport in this country and Invercargill enthusiasts, are looking forward to renewing their acquaintance with him when he meets Andy Moen on Wednesday night. Blomfield is the kind of man who is seen at his best when matched with an opponent of his own calibre—the harder he has to work the better he and the spectators like it—and consequently there is certain to be a really gruelling tussle when he comes up against Moen. Not only in physique, but also in wrestling skill and style, Moen is an ideal opponent for Blomfield and can be depended upon to keep the New Zealand champion moving .at top speed the whole way. Whether in victory or in defeat Blomfield goes ahead and wrestles in his inimitable and distinctly purposeful style, but when he comes up against Moen he will find himself facing a man who will do his utmost to throw him out of gear. Whether Blomfield tries to' wear Moen down by the use of jolts and similar tactics, or whether he concentrates upon seeking an opportunity of using his celebrated octopus, clamp, he will find Moen footing it with him all the way and it may well be that he will have to produce something entirely new if he is to take the honours. Moen is a distinctly versatile performer as he has shown against the hardest of the men he has been called upon to handle during the season,, and his ability to produce something to suit every occasion has been responsible for many of his successes. He appeals strongly to the general public because his wrestling is always fast and spectacular and, against a man like Blomfield, who is never content unless things are happening all the time, he will be seen at his best. Moen can match jolts with jolts and can also produce some flying tackles and dropkicks which will prove very disconcerting to Blomfield as well as exhilarating to the spectators. HANSEN AND MEEHAN DRAW (United Press Association) TAUMARUNUI, September 12. In a wrestling match Hansen and Meehan drew, with a fall each. The bout went the full distance. In the seventh round Hansen secured a fall with a Shanghai headlock and at the last moment in the eighth round Meehan equalized with a flying body scissors.
