REPRESENTATIVE IN CANADA
TRADE COMMISSIONER RETIRES MR R. M. FIRTH TO SUCCEED MR J. W. COLLINS The retirement of Mr J. W. Collins from the position of New Zealand Trade and Tourist Commissioner in Canada was reported at yesterday’s meeting of the council of tho Invercargill Chamber of Commerce. In a letter to the council Mr Collins said his retirement would date from the end of the month. “I have filled the position for eight years,” he added, “and after 46 years with the New Zealand Government it is my intention to return to my home land after a holiday to be spent in the United Kingdom?’ Mr Collins said that he would be succeeded by Mr R. M. Firth, now Commissioner for Western America, with headquarters in Los Angeles. Mr Firth would in turn be succeeded by Mr R. W. Marshall, formerly district manager of the Tourist Department at Wellington. . . Mr Firth was at one time stationed in Invercargill. It was decided to write congratulating him on his appointment. It was also decided to write to Mr Collins expressing the chamber’s appreciation of his services.
