FATAL ACCIDENT IN DEE STREET

MAN THROWN FROM CYCLE BY MOTOR-CAR A fatal accident occurred in Dee street about 7 o’clock yesterday morning when Mr Charles Smith, aged 66, a railway employee of 8 Bluff road, was thrown from his bicycle by a motorcar driven by Hugh Wylie Paterson. Mr Smith was admitted to the Southland Hospital suffering from a fracture at the base of the skull from which he later died. WOMAN DIES FROM INJURIES RESULT OF ACCIDENT IN TAY STREET Mrs Frances Bulling, aged 69, who was injured when she and her husband, Mr M. C. Bulling, were struck by a motor-truck in Tay street on Monday evening died from her injuries early this morning. She suffered a fracture of the right leg, a compound fracture of the left leg and shock. BUSINESS MAN COLLAPSES AND DIES (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 19. While driving his motor-car in the city this morning, a business man, Albert James Thompson, aged 54, of Royal Oak, collapsed and died. , Mr Thompson was accompanied in his car by Mr A. D. Sims, his business partner, and he collapsed after the vehicle had turned out of Albert street into. Wellesley street, falling against Mr Sims. The car, which was travelling at a very slow pace, crossed the footpath and struck the wall of a hotel at the corner. The left mudguard on the car was crumpled, but no other damage was. done. A nurse, who was passing, gave assistance, but Mr Thompson was dead before the ambulance arrived. MAORI WOMAN FOUND DEAD (United Press Association) WHAKATANE, May 19. A married Maori woman, aged 17, named Waimatau Onekawa, was found dead as the result of a gunshot wound at Matahui Pa in circumstances which indicate suicide. A gun was found beside the body, which had been propped up by a box and pillows. A string had beeh attached to the trigger and there was a fatal wound in the breast.
