He trusted their term would be a harmonious one and if it was not possible for them to agree on all questions he hoped the questions would be threshed out in a harmonious spirit. The board had been famed for this spirit in the past and he trusted the present term would be an equally happy one. There were three applications for the position of town clerk, Mr M. C. Rice being the successful applicant. His duties will begin on June 1. Crs F. Ball and C. G. Davey were appointed the Reserves Committee. TOWN CLERK BIDDEN FAREWELL Cr Hunter said this would be the last meeting at which the town clerk, Mr F. J. Bogue, would act. He regretted losing his services, as he had always conducted his duties in a first-class manner, and the manner in which he kept his books had been most favourably commented on. As a member of the Finance Committee he knew the books had been kept to the satisfaction of the board and he also had all the other affairs of the board at his finger tips. He moved that a record of appreciation of Mr Bogue’s services be placed on the minutes. The chairman said he seconded the motion with regret. As a member of the Finance Committee he had a good deal to do with the' clerk in the past and he had always found him willing to do what was asked of him. He had proved a most efficient clerk and his knowledge of his work had been a wonderful help to the board. Cr Ball also spoke. Mr Bogue, in thanking the speakers, said he had tried to do his best in the interest of the board. The new appointee would make a good clerk and he thought the new board would get along well if guided by the old members.
