MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB At the weekly shoot of the Browns Miniature Rifle Club J. Mitchell secured both the West Silver Button for the highest score off the rifle and the. handicap badge. A special women’s prize was won by Miss M. Diack. Mr L McLeod won a table-tennis tournament run in conjunction with the shoot. Best scores were.—A. G. Diack, 77-3-79; R. Gill, 75-3-78; F. LORA GORGE DEBATING SOCIETY The Lora Gorge Debating Society held its opening night in the Otapiri Hall, the subject for the debate being: “That women should not take part in public affairs.” For the affirmative the speakers were Messrs Mitchell, F. Hamilton, and for the negative Mr W. Paterson and Misses G. Paterson and D. Hamilton. The negative speakers won by a narrow margin of points. Mr L. Stevens was judge. After the debate an hour was spent in games and community singing.
