JUBILEE COMMITTEE ... ENTERTAINED RECENT CELEBRATIONS AT SCHOOL There was a big attendance in the Opio Hall for a social evening when members of the School Jubilee Committee and friends were entertained. Mr P. Sinclair, chairman of the Opio School Committee, presided. A picture programme was shown by Mr J. D. Sinclair, consisting of moving camera scenes of Te Anau, Manapouri, Eglinton Valley and district coal mining scenes. Dancing was held, music being played by Miss E. Tinker and Mr A. Tinker. Mr C. Spillane presented Mr D. Sinclair, chairman of the Jubilee Committee, with a travelling bag and rug. He referred to the service Mr Sinclair had given, both during the organization of the various functions and at the jubilee. Reference to the services of the secretaries, Mrs E. Kidd and Mr H. O’Dowd, was made by Mr P. Sinclair, who presented Mrs Kidd with a crystal set and Mr O’Dowd with a pocket wallet. Mr J. Frew presented Mr J. D. Sinclair with a salad bowl and Mr J. Casey presented the treasurer, Mr C. Spillane, with a fountain pen. During the evening songs were given by Mesdames J. B. McLeod, J. D. Sinclair and J. B. Grant and Mr D. Sinclair gave a recitation.
