LAWN TENNIS Playing at Balfour, the Balfour tennis team beat Fresbford B by five games, the sets being equal, eight all. Following are the detailed results, Freshford names being mentioned first:— Men’s Singles.—J. Porter beat L. On 9-8; V. Lawrence lost to E. Orr 3-9; E. Sanson lost to W. Dixon 7-9; F. Hurley lost to F. Greer 3-9. Women’s Singles.—Miss M. Dickson lost to Miss O. Matheson 0-7; Miss J. Wright beat Mrs A. Stewart 7-1; Mrs Johnston beat Mrs V. McDonald 7-4; Miss Maher beat Miss P. Milligan 7-2.
Women’s Doubles.—Misses M. Dickson and J. Wright lost to Miss O. Matheson and Mrs A. Stewart 6-7; Mrs Johnston and Miss Maher beat Mrs V. McDonald and Miss Milligan 7-2. Men’s Doubles.—J. Porter and V. Lawrence beat L. and E. Orr 9-1; E. Sanson and F. Hurley lost to W. Dixon and F. Greer 3-9. Mixed Doubles.—J. Porter and Miss M. Dickson beat L. Orr and Miss O. Matheson 7-6; V. Lawrence and Miss J. Wright lost to E. Orr and Mrs Stewart 4-7; E. Sanson and Mrs Johnston lost to W. Dixon and Mrs McDonald 3-7; G. Hurley and Miss Maher beat F. Greer and Miss Milligan. Freshford, 8 sets, 89 games; Balfour, 8 sets, 94 games.
