PARENTS SUE SON FOR COST OF EDUCATION
YOUNG DOCTOR AGREES TO REPAY EXPENDITURE
SAN FRANCISCO, December 3.
An extraordinary law suit was brought by his parents against a doctor aged 30, who is being sued for the repayment of 8117 dollars 13 cents, alleged to have been spent on his education.
The doctor’s mother, giving evidence, produced a complete list of expenditures on her son since he was aged 21 years. It included every item of clothing and also food and delicacies sent to him while he was studying. She explained th t she mortgaged her home in order to educate him, adding: “My husband and I often went hungry.” The judge interrupted her with the comment that the suit should be settled by a compromise. “The family tie is one of the most precious things in the world,” he said. It was announced after a conference that the parents had dropped the suit, the son having agreed to pay a monthly allowance and to liquidate the mortgage.
