FRENCH VISIT TO POLAND

NO FREE HAND FOR HITLER

DELBOS GREETED AT WARSAW

POLES REAFFIRM MILITARY ALLIANCE

(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Received December 5, 7 p.m.) LONDON, December 4.

All reports that Germany will in any way obtain a free hand in Eastern Europe were dispelled by the talks between the French Foreign Minister (M. Yvon Delbos) and the Polish Foreign Minister (Colonel Josef Beck), according to the Warsaw correspondent of the News Chronicle. Cries of “Vive La France!” greeted M. Delbos on his arrival at the Warsaw station, where he was welcomed by Colonel Beck and many Polish of-

ficials, and also by the Czechoslavak, Rumanian and Yugoslav Ministers, says the Warsaw correspondent of The Daily Telegraph. The Press heartily welcomes M. Delbos, emphasizing that the FrancoPolish alliance was never stronger or better adapted to' serve the cause of European peace. M. Delbos and Colonel Beck after a banquet toasted the Franco-Polish military alliance, which Colonel Beck declared was unchanged. The gathering followed conversations held throughout the day between M. Delbos and Polish Ministers.

The conversations are reported to have been cordial, although the Poles reiterated their dislike of the FrancoSoviet Pact and also emphasized that the improvement in their relations with Czechoslovakia depended on . better Czech treatment of the Polish minority. The Poles also urged their claim to colonies and the necessity of access to raw materials. Facilities for migration to Madagascar have been partially promised by France, where the' Poles could settle 3,000,000 peasants and Jews.

At Berlin the German Foreign Minister (Baron Konstantin von Neurath) had 15 minutes’ conversation with M. Delbos at the railway station before the Frenchman left for Warsaw.

Baron von Neurath invited M. Delbos to visit Berlin, and M. Delbos accepted for early in January, at the completion of his present tour. No political importance is attached to the German invitation, which is regarded as an act of courtesy.
