SANDERS CUP TRIAL RACES DECIDED
WELLINGTON YACHT CHOSEN
(United Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 5. Two easy wins in the final of the two Sanders Cup trials held at Port Nicholson at the week-end gave the Kitty, sailed by Nigel Blair, the Campbell Cup and the honour of representing the Wellington province at the contest to be held in Dunedin early next year. The Kitty’s performance in winning four of five races by easy margins, and of losing the fourth almost certainly because of a single error and a good deal of ill-fortune early in the race, was of high merit. The Vanguard, sailed by Jack Coleman, winner of the 1937 Sanders Cup, had ’ three seconds and two thirds. Lauchlan’s Jewel (J. Bolland) had one win, one second, and two thirds. The representative for the championship at Picton at the end of the month will be the Vampire, the present holder of the title, with Evan Julian as skipper. The Vampire, by a win and a second, headed the Idle Along fleet by seven points, having two wins and three seconds. The Riptide (D. Beck) had two wins, one second and one third, but
