TUATAPERE SCHOOL BAZAAR
The Waiau Welfare Society has held a successful bazaar in aid of the Tuatapere School. Following were the stallholders:—Plain and fancy, Mesdames C. Duncan, C. F. Bruce, H. Robins, J. O. Harper, J. Catto, J. Tuffery; novelty, Mesdames G. Stancombe, B. Brookes, W. Low; cakes, Mesdames C. Cottam, R. Walker, J. Stuck, C. Payne, W. Henderson; produce, Mesdames J. Mangan, J. King; pupil’s stall, Mrs G. Higgins; Christmas tree, Mesdames C. Gregory, H. Whitehead and T. Tilbury. Competition winners were: No. 1 bag of suggar, W. Baldwin; No. 2 dinner set, Miss D. O’Brien; No. 3 dressed doll, Miss M. Coughlan; No. 4 hamper, W,
North, Winton; No. 5 cushion, M. R. King; No. 6 hamper, Mrs D. A. Campbell; No. 7 iced cake, J. W. Bradley; dinner, F. Kilkelly; loaf cheese, Mrs P. Scott; “quintuplets,” Miss R. McMillan; “quadruplets,” Mr W. Lee; xylonite set, D. Campbell. During the evening, school children gave the following items: Song, senior boys and girls; song, primary children; drill, senior boys; playette, “The Dolly Show,” Jean Bruce, Eileen Rodgers, Margaret Mair, Pat Stewart, Eileen Mouat, Margaret King, Kathleen Everett; song, Elma Walker, Valda Stewart and Rona Austin; selections by the Tuatapere girls’ mouth-organ band; tap dance, Elma Walker‘and Rona Austin.
