DR SCHUSCHNIGG ADDRESSES 350,000 AUSTRIANS. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Vienna, October 18. Standing on top of a specially erected tower 70ft high, the Chancellor (Dr Kurt- Schuschnigg) addressed the greatest political rally ever held in Austria. It is estimated that 350,000 people were present on the Schmelz, the former Imnerial parade ground, including 150,000 brought from all parts of lower Austria. Dr Schuschnigg said that his aim was to give every Austrian work. He also promised free milk to school children, and cheaper coal. His speech evoked little enthusiasm.
