NEW SPEED RECORD

LONDON MOTORIST'S FEAT. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, Septembei- 9. A Press telegram from Bonneville, Salt Flats (Utah) reports that Mr John Cobb, the famous London racing motorist, set up a new world’s record by travelling at 167.69 miles an hour over a course of 12 miles, thus beating the record of 162.53 miles an hour established by Captain G. E. T. Eyston last July.* Mr Cobb has tentative plans for an attempt on new records for longer times and distances to-morrow and on Friday.
