WHOLESALE TRADE INCREASED

INDEX HIGHEST SINCE 1930. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, September 9. The Board of Trade index of wholesale prices showed an increase in August of 1-7 per cent, from the July index, the number being the highest recorded since September 1930. During the first five months of this year wholesale prices were relatively stable, but an appreciable rise has been recorded in each of the last three months, the aggregate increase since amounting to over 3.5 per cent.
