UNIFIED CONTROL OF CONTRACT BRIDGE

ELY CULBERTSON ANNOUNCES MERGER. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Paris, September 8. Mr Ely Culbertson, the American bridge expert, announces a merger of the organizations controlling contract bridge—the International Union and the International Bridge League—thus constituting a “supreme court” for 28,000,000 players in 55 countries. The new council opposes further tampering with the rules of the game, and has adopted the international code approve I by the Portland Club and the Whist Club.

The “Davis Cup” of bridge will be contested at Budapest next June.
