WOMEN’S LONG JUMP RECORD. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 4. A new record for the New Zealand women’s long jump was passed at tonight’s meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association. This was for the distance of 16 feet 6). inches set up by Miss Edna Ruth Munro, at Rangiora, on April 20. John Vincent Powell’s 2 minutes 151 seconds for 1000 yards at Wellington on March 3 was declared equal to the New Zealand record set by Broadway, at Christchurch. The applications for reinstatement by John Miller and Albert George Oakwell were granted. COACHING SYSTEM. LACK OF ORGANIZATION. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 4. A finding that generally speaking there was a lack of proper organization in most centres in connection with coaching, and that the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association should provide a general plan of coaching and training for the guidance of centres and clubs, was contained in a report received at to-night’s meeting of the council from a sub-committee set up to consider this matter. With lack of proper organization overcome and a regular course of tuition provided, it was felt that the standard of performance would be raised considerably. The committee recommended that each district appoint immediately a a coaching and training committee. It also recommended that each, centre purchase a projector and the council lend training films to the centres in rotation.
