GOLD IN FIJI

PARCEL OF 280 OUNCES. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.11 p.m.) Suva, February 18. Mr Theodore leaves for Sydney on Tuesday. He has a second parcel of gold from the Emperor mine at Tavua, believed to be about 280 ounces. This follows the first shipment of about 300 ounces. Mr Oliver Joske, who visited the Emperor mine, reports that the tunnel in the hillside is 150 feet below the crown. Additional other tunnels will be opened out. The Emperor proprietors’ expenditure was £70,000.
