Outside actual service, the Exchequer returns show that the ordinary revenue collected to January 19 total ed £485,311,377, compared with £491,874,170 for the corresponding period of the last financial year. Including self-balancing revenue, the respective totals were £548,744,377 and £554,569,170. The ordinary expenditure to date is £563,191,499, compared with £553,653,624 for the corresponding period last year and with selfbalancing expenditure the totals were £626,624,499 and £609,652,924 respectively. Although the flat rate income tax was reduced in the last _ Budget, the revenue collected from this source to date is £108,366,000, nearly £5,000,000 larger than last year. Surtax receipts are slightly lower. The revenue from estate duties is £7,000,000 lower at £36,586,000. Stamp duties are higher and customs receipts at £6,000,000 are higher up than last year. Excise is down by £2,000,000. There is little change in other revenue items, except miscellaneous receipts at £12,681,476 which is £8,792,072 lower than the total for the corresponding date last year.
