Two Royal Birthdays

Princess Margaret Rose celebrated her fourth birthday on Tuesday, August 21, and the next day the Hon. Gerald Lascelles, younger son the Princess Royal and the Earl of Harewood, celebrated his tenth birthday. Both the Princess and her cousin had their maternal grandmothers with them on their respective birthdays. The Queen arrived at Harewood House from Sandringham to spend a few days with the Princess Royal and Princess Margaret Rose was at Glamis Castle, where she and her parents were the guests of the Earl and Countess of Strathmore.

The Hon. Gerald Lascelles is with his brother, Viscount Lascelles, at Ludgrove School, Cockfosters, Middlesex. During the holidays he has accompanied his father to the butts for shooting over the moors of the West Riding, and on occasions has been allowed to handle the gun. The Earl of Harewood is a good shot and his sons are proving apt pupils. Both the boys’ names have been entered in the provisional lists for Eton, and Lord Lascelles is eligible for entry next year.
