Times Office, Friday Morning. Readers arc requested to note that in future the reports, of local markets and price quotations will appear in, Thursday’s issue. Grain and Produce.

Oats—This market appears to be very firm, and most of the stocks throughout the South Island have been disposed of. Sales were made prior to the holidays at 2/4 for A’s and 2/2 for B’s, but holders are not now keen to sell at these prices. There is also strong inquiry for spread delivery next year. There are no offerings from farmers, but prices are nominally from 1/8 to 1/9 for A’s and 2d per bushel less for B’s.

Wheat—Business is now confined to the supply of the local poultry trade. There are no offerings from farmers and merchants’ lines for the most part have been cleared. It is understood that the price for the new season’s wheat for milling purposes will be about 2d a bushel in advance of last season.

Chaff—There is very little doing at present except for occasional lines offering from farmers. ’ There is no shipping demand and supplies are sufficient to fill local requirements. The price to farmers runs out at £2 5/- to £2 10/- a ton on trucks, country stations.

Ryegrass—Most of the grass-seed has been disposed of so that the new season’s crop will come on to a fairly bare market. It is too early yet to predict the prices farmers are likely to get, but it is anticipated that these will show a considerable advance on those of last year. Potatoes —Business is confined to the sale of new potatoes for local requirements. Fruit and Vegetables.
