NECKLACE SWINDLERS

WORK ON TRAINS. A clever pearl necklace gang of swindlers have -been “working” the north and south-bound expresses from Edinburgh and Glasgow. Pretty girl decoys are being employed to persuade travellers to buy synthetic pearl necklaces, costing a shilling or two, for £5 or less, according to whether people are travelling first or third class. The gang are said to have made as much as £5O on a double journey. One of the principal decoys, a traveller who had been victimized says, is a spark-ling-eyed blonde who plays a “Miss Innocence” role, and tells a tale of ill-luck.
