Mrs R. D. Pearce, Park street, is spending a holiday at the Rocks, Riverton.

Miss L. Grey, of Pahia, and Miss W. Strachan, of Invercargill, were the guests of Mrs J. G. Hayward, Forest Hill, last week. Miss M. McConachie, of Otautau, is spending the school vacation with her mother, Mrs G. McConachie, Lochiel. Miss Margaret McGillivray is spending a holiday with Mrs J. Dixon, Lilbume.

Miss H. Clark, of Lochiel, spent a few days in Gore last week. Miss Freda Dixon, of Lilburne, spent a few days with Miss Elza Pierce, McKenzie street, last week. Miss Annie Forbes, of Columba College, Dunedin, is spending the vacation with her parents, Mr and Mrs A. Forbes, Lochiel. Miss D. Goodall, Mary street, has been visiting Orawia. Miss Marion Tilley spent a few days in Invercargill last week. Mr and Mrs J. Dixon, of Lilburne, were the guests of Mrs G. Dixon, Park street, last week. Miss I. Lindsay, Park street, has been spending a holiday at Makarewa.

Mrs M. Grimwood, John street, spent a few days at Waimatuku last week. Mrs P. G. Giller, Nelson street, Invercargill, and Mrs P. Callender, of Roxburgh, are the guests of Miss D. Sutton, “The Willows,” Otapiri. Mrs J. Looney, of Invercargill, is visiting her daughter, Mrs P. J. Kean, South Hillend.

The prize-winners at the euchre party run under the auspices of the R.S.A. on Thursday evening were Miss N. Egerton and Mr O. D. Jamieson. Miss Nancy McLean, of Oreti, spent a few days at Nightcaps last week. Miss C. Dixon, Park street, is spending a holiday at Lilburne. Mr and Mrs T. King are visiting Wellington and Wanganui. Miss Ila Milne, of Clifden, is spending a holiday with Miss G. Horner, "Timboon,” Oreti. Miss Zonie Ward returned on Saturday from a holiday spent at Nightcaps. Miss M. Young, of Mossburn, is the guest of Mrs.P. A. de la Perrelle, Park street.

Miss Doris McMillan, of Springhills, is staying with Miss D. Pattinson, East Winton.

Miss G. Matchett, of Oreti, has returned home after spending a holiday at Waimatuku.

Mrs G. King, "The Bend,” Winton, has returned from a holiday spent in Christchurch.

Miss N. Dalrymple, of Northope, spent a few days with Mrs C. M. Lindsay, Park street, last week. Miss R. Liddell, Arthur street, has taken up a position in Invercargill. Mrs A. J. Thompson and her daughter Toyce, of Punedin, are guests of Mrs J. Walsh.

Miss V. Barclay is spending the vacation at her home in Dunedin.

Mrs S. George, of Dunedin, is the guest of her sister, Mrs T. McGillivray. Miss J. Rodger, of Invercargill, was the recent guest of Dr M. Gow.

Miss Gladys Walker, of Lochiel, has been spending a holiday at Waimatuku. ' Mr and Mrs M. Cahill, who have just returned from their honeymoon, were entertained by a number of friends on Wednesday evening at the residence of Mr J. At the Winton Basketball Club’s euchre party on Monday evening, August 21, the rri s were won by Miss E. Scobie ar 4 Mr C. Thompson, while at the Fire Brigade's five hundred tournament on Tuesday evening the prize-winners v ire Miss J. McDougall and Mr H. Knight.

A further bridge party organized by the social committee of the Anglican Church was held in the Radio tea rooms on Friday* last. The prize-win-ners were: Mrs H. Mathias (ladies), Mr R. Shane' (men) and Mrs O. A. B. Smith (hidden number). The aggregate prize was won by Mr Mathias. Miss Bessie Hewitt, of Invercargill, spent the week-end with her parents Mr and Mrs W. Hewitt.
