Davie, second son of Mrs Davie, Los Angeles, California, and the late Mr Robert Davie, Liverpool, England.

J. Howells made a presentation of a clock to Mr Twhigg from his many friends, conveying to him their best wishes in his new venture. A wedding of considerable local interest took place on Tuesday, August 22, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, when Annie Pearl, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Reid, Arcadia, Paradise, was married to Thomas, youngest son of Mr and the late Mrs P. C. Gray, Dunedin, and formerly of Gore. The officiating minister was the Rev. F. M. Beattie and Mr Hillsdon Hutton played the wedding music. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a graceful anklelength frock of parchment angel-skin satin, cut on classical lines. Her veil was arranged with a wreath of orange blossom and she carried a sheaf of arum lilies and freesias. Miss Linda Cockburn, the bride’s cousin, attended as bridesmaid, and wore a pretty anklelength frock of delphinium blue crinkly crepe made with cowl neckline and epaulettes. Her hat was of grey straw with touches of blue and she wore grey lace gloves, shoes and hose. Her bouquet was composed of spring flowers. Little John and Jean Morgan, nephew and niece of the bride, were page boy and flower girl, the former wearing a cream suit and the latter a dainty blue frilled georgette frock. Mr Colin Campbell attended as best man.

After the ceremony the guests, numbering over a hundred, adjourned to Speden’s Buildings where the wedding breakfast was held. Mr Beattie presided and a lengthy toast list was honoured. Mrs Reid, the . bride s mother, wore a black marocain frock; with touches of lemon and carried a

bouquet of narcissi and freesias. A sister of the bride, Mrs Morgan, wore a frock of blue and grey marocain, blue straw hat and carried a posy of violets.

Later when Mr and Mrs Gray left for the north on their honeymoon, the bride wore a blue frock relieved with white, a smart grey coat and blue hat. In the afternoon Miss Harvey, Halton street. East Gore, an aunt of the bride, entertained a number of the guests at afternoon tea. Miss Harvey wore a becoming frock of navy blue georgette. Mr and Mrs T. Gray will take up residence in Huron street, East Gore. BEATTIE—TRETHEWAY. The wedding took place at St. Andrew’s Hall, Devon street, on Wednesday, August 16, of Viplet Nellie, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs H. W. Tretheway, Eccles street, Gore, and George, fourth son of Mrs arid the late Mr David Beattie, Tapanfi. The Rev. F. M. Beattie performed the ceremony and Mr Hillsdon Hutton played the wedding march.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of white crepe de chene and radium lace over white satin, made on tight-fitting lines with puff sleeves. She wore a coronet of orange blossom and carried a pretty bouquet of spring flowers. The bridesmaids were Miss Dorothy Tretheway, the bride’s sister, and Miss Verna Tretheway, a cousin. The former wore a frock of lemon crepe de chene over satin made with frilled hip design and puff sleeves, broadtail cape and muff, and a juliette cap. The latter wore a similar frock of salmon crepe de chene over satin. Mr B. Beattie attended as best man and Mr H. Tretheway was groomsman. The bride’s mother wore a navy Celanese frock with tango trimming, navy hat to match and fox fur. The bridegroom’s mother wore a navy fur trimmed coat with smart black hat. The wedding breakfast was held in the Gaiety Hall, about 80 guests being present including many from Tapanui, Kelso and Waikaia. Mr Beattie presided and the usual toast list was honoured. When the bride and bridegroom left on their honeymoon the bride travelled in a navy tailored coat with close fitting hat to match. Mr and Mrs Beattie will make their home at the Dome, Waikaia.
