Miss Mildred Hopwood returned on Saturday after spending a holiday in Dunedin. • Mrs F. Simpson, of Invercargill, has been spending ‘a holiday with her sister, Mrs T. Molloy. Mrs Collie and family, Invercargill, are at The Rocks. Miss P. Broad, Invercargill, is the guest of Mr and Mrs J. A. Martin. Mrs A. C. Ford and family, Invercargill, are at the Rocks. Miss Amy McFadgen, of Oamaru, visited Riverton last week and was present at the Guise-McFadgen wedding. The euchre evening in aid of the Anglican Church funds was well attended on Thursday. Mrs Trembath was the most successful lady player, Miss Woodward filling second place'. Messrs W. Evans and W. Russell won the men’s prizes. Among those present were: Mesdames E. Eade, W. J. Winton, Spencer (2), W. Hopwood, W. Leader, C. Gray, Trembath, J. McLean, Misses Mills, Leader (2), Woodward, Messrs W. Patterson, Cooke, McKay, Hinsley, Henderson, McNay, Shaw, Evans, Cockburn, Bulman, Eade (2), Spencer, Russell, Dean, Pratt, Hopwood (2). Mr and Mrs S. Bisset, Invercargill, are visiting Mr and Mrs T. Bulman. Miss Gedney, who was recently appointed matron of the Wallace Hos-' pital, arrived on Wednesday and has started duties.
Mrs T. R. Abercrombie was hostess on Tuesday evening at a delightful dinner and bridge party. Among those present were: Mr and Mrs G. R. Berndtson, the Rev. and Mrs J. N. Thompson, Mr and Mrs C. A. Caigou, Mrs Oliphant (Dimedin), and Mr J. Hamilton.
On Thursday evening Mesdames C. A. Caigou and T. R. Abercrombie arranged a dance at the vicarage, when a most enjoyable time was spent. Mrs Abercrombie presented Mrs Thompson with a set of cake forks and tea spoons, and said Mrs Thompson had endeared herself to a large circle of friends since taking up residence at the seaside. She concluded by wishing all the members of the Thompson family every success for the future. The recipient made a suitable reply. Those present were: The Rev. and Mrs J. N. Thompson, Dr. and Mrs N. G. Trotter, Mr and Mrs T. R. Abercrombie, Mr and Mrs C. A. Caigou, Mr and Mrs P. B. Berndtson, Mr and Mrs H. J. Walden, Dr. and Mrs J. W. Bridgman, Mr and Mrs Janson (Otautau), Mesdames T. J. Price, G. Oliphant (Dunedin), Misses Trotter (2), Gordon (2), Price, Messrs A. D. Angus, J. Hamilton and J. Trotter.
Mrs Gerald Oliphant (Dunedin), and her daughter June are the guests of Mr and Mrs C. A. Caigou during the school holidays. Miss Jean Borland is spending the school vacation with her parents. Nurse Bain, of Dunedin Hospital, who has been visiting her parents, has returned north.
Mrs J. Graham and Miss Graham, of Wellington, who spent a few days with friends in the south, left for the north on Saturday.
Mr and Mrs W. H. Brown, Lora Gorge, have returned home after spending a holiday with their daughter, Mrs L. Dutton, Colac.
