SEIZURE OF GOODS

HIRE PURCHASE SYSTEM. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, June 26. An attack on the hire purchase system with particular reference to the seizure of goods when payment was almost completed, was made at a meeting of the executive . of the Metropolitan Relief Association this evening. Cases of hardship caused by the seizure of furniture were quoted. On the other hand it was stated the vendors mostly gave a reasonable period of grace before- seizure. The suggestion made was that the vendor should be allowed to destrain only for the amount of the balance owing. The executive decided to. refer the matter to the housing section of the Business Men’s Relief Committee.
