MOTORS COLLIDE

LORRY CAPSIZES. THREE WOMEN INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) Hastings, June 26. Three women were injured when a motor lorry containing 20 passengers from Nanier on their way to a religious meeting at Hastings was struck by a motor car on the Napier-Hastings road in the vicinity of the Whakatu turn-off, a few minutes before 7 o’clock last evening. All the three injured were admitted to the Napier hospital. Their condition is reported to be satisfactory. The names of the injured are:—

Mrs Ada James, aged 57, Burlington Road, Napier, deep scalp wounds. Mrs Isabella McTaggart, aged 57, Milton Road, Napier, severe cut on the left side of the forehead.

Mrs Nellie McEwen, aged 54, Ossian Street, Port Ahuriri, fracture of the upper arm. The motor lorry, driven by R. Scott, was travelling towards Hastings when the accident occurred. The car, which was travelling in the direction of Napier, was driven by Charles McLeod of Wanganui. The front of the car struck the driving side of the lorry with such force that the lorry turned over on its side.
