In the Sheffield Shield match against Victoria, Queensland in the second innings scored 74. Cook with 36 not out was top scorer. Ironmonger took seven for 13, Fleetwood-Smith one for 40 and Alexander one for 5. Queensland found Ironmonger, owing to his spin and accuracy, unplayable. A few hits were attempted off the veteran bowler, who covered himself with glory. Victoria won by an innings and 129 runs. In the first innings Victoria made 329 and Queensland 126. N.S.W. DEFEAT SOUTH AUSTRALIA. (Rec. 8.40 p.m.) Adelaide, December 20. In the second innings of the Sheffield Shield match against South Australia. New South Wales scored 86 for seven wickets. The overnight batsmen, Oldfield and O’Reilly, obtained the requisite 11 runs to win, although there were thrills in the final seven minutes of play. Grimmett dropped an easy catch from O’Reilly and Walker almost stumped Oldfield. Wall took four for 31 and Grimmett two for 41. New South Wales won by three wickets. South Australia made 213 and 251 and New South Wales 379 in their first innings. DON BRADMAN MAY PLAY AGAINST VICTORIA. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Sydney, December 20. Don Bradman has been granted permission by the New South Wales Cricket Association to play against Victoria on Friday. He must, however, first pass a medical examination.
