ROAD SERVICES
LICENSING AUTHORITY. APPLICATIONS DEALT WITH. The second meeting of the No. 10 Transport Licensing Authority was held in Invercargill on Monday, for the purpose of receiving evidence and representations in favour of or against the granting of passenger service licenses, in various districts of Southland. The board comprised—Messrs F. G. Hall-Jones (chairman), E. Bov.-mar, W. J. Wesney and G. E. Whitmore (secretary). The following cases were dealt with:— Gorge Road to Invercargill (J. R. Smith): The application was considered under Section 26 of the Act and was granted subject to the timetable and schedule of fares and goods charges, as submitted. Invercargill to Lorneville (H. M. Agnew and G. E. Maltby): These applications were dealt with under Section 26 of the Act and were granted subject to the time-table and schedule of fares as submitted. Te Anau-Lake Gunn (Lumsden Tourist Company): This application was considered under Section 26 of the Act, and as it is for a proposed service mainly for the benefit of tourists, and will be an extension of the applicant’s present service from Lumsden to Te Anau, it was granted subject to the applicants being required to run only when necessary. Several other matters concerning licenses approved of by the board at its first sitting in April were dealt with.
